In 1954, the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) initiated its Great Decisions discussion program. Each January, the FPA publishes the Great Decisions Briefing Book, which offers a pithy analysis (8-12 pages each) of eight of the world’s most critical issues, and provides questions to prepare readers to discuss world affairs.
Due to the overwhelming response for Great Decisions discussion, the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn AAUW hosts three groups, which all meet the same week. Group 1 meets on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm, and Groups 2 and 3 meet the preceding Tuesday, at 7:00 pm and 1:00 pm respectively. The exception is January, as the booklets become available and are delivered “sometime” in January and will not arrive in time for a first Thursday meeting.
